Business Manager – Dick Frette
Professional Profile: Dick is currently serving as Business Manager at Union UMC. He has been in this position since February 2008. Dick retired from the United States Air Force in 1991, worked for SRA International as a trainer, course ware developer, editor and manager from 1991-2005, then retired to spend time with his family and other interests. Dick has been a member of Union UMC since 1981 and a vital part of the church staff since 2008.
Educational Profile: Dick graduated from Washington High School in Washington, Indiana; received a B.A. in Speech from Evansville College (now University of Evansville); and an M.A. in Management from Webster University.
Personal Profile: Dick was married to Karen, until her death in January 2008; has three sons, two daughters-in-law, three grandsons and four granddaughters.
He is a member of the Air Force Association, Daedalians, Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, and Turkey Hill Grange. He served as Treasurer for the International Leadership Group (ILG), an international organization that raised funds to provide scholarships for Chinese Christian pastors and leaders to obtain advanced degrees in Christian Studies at Peking University, the ‘Harvard of China.’ A previous member and officer of BEACON, he volunteers with the furniture ministry.
Dick has served as chairman of most of the committees at Union. He has been Lay Leader, served as a member of the Building Committee, and is currently one of two Lay Delegates to Annual Conference. He is President of the Mississippi River District United Methodist Men; Secretary of the Board and member of the Finance Committee of the Wesley Foundation at SIU-Carbondale; Secretary of the Illinois Great Rivers Conference Board of Higher Education; and serves on several District committees. He teaches the Seekers, an adult Sunday School class.
Dick’s interests and hobbies are his family and flying.
Director of Music – Carole Eckert
Professional Profile: Carole Eckert currently serves as the Director of Music at Union United Methodist Church. She is the Sanctuary Choir Director and the coordinator of the Union music program.
Education: Carole holds a B.S. and a M.S. in Music Education (vocal, choral) from the University of Illinois.
Professional Experience: Carole has performed with the St. Louis Muny Opera, the Opera Theatre of St. Louis at the Muny, and as a soloist with area choirs in addition to having taught music in the public schools.
Personal Profile: Carole is married to Jim Eckert and they have three children.
Children and Youth Choir Director – Julie Petraborg
Julie L. Petraborg is owner of the Petraborg Law Firm, LLC. She practices worker’s compensation defense representing self insured companies and insurance carriers.
She is currently serving as the director of Union’s Children’s and Youth choirs.
Julie has been a past speaker and moderator for the Missouri Bar Association, Kid’s Chance of Missouri, Lorman Education Services, Missouri Self-Insurers Association, Concentra Health, National Business Institute and Missouri Chamber of Commerce.
Julie enjoys community theater and has played at Looking Glass Playhouse, Turkey Hill Players and Monroe Actors Stage Company.
She loves singing and has been singing since grade school. Through high school Ms. Petraborg was part of Girls Glee Club and she sings with the sanctuary choir.
Julie is a past competitive artistic roller skater, having earned national placements in 1997 and 2000.
She is married to Paul and has two beautiful children, Emma and Alex.
