Religions Of The World

Here’s your chance to delve a little more deeply into the phenomenon of religion as organized around the globe.

Starting Wednesday evening, April 2 from 6:30 pm to 9:00, I will introduce the academic study of religion and set the stage for our study with some general concepts and foundational structures. This session is so important that if you cannot attend the first class, I will repeat the same material on the following Monday or Tuesday evening.

Each session will be divided into three parts: 6:30-7:30 lecture/information, 7:30-8:30 video, and 8:30 to 9:00 discussions, questions/comments on readings. If you are a choir member, you may slip our for practice and then comeback. You can watch the videos at another time.

I will provide all necessary books and materials free of charge for you to borrow. Just come with an attitude of “hospitality” to others and a willingness to “think outside the box.”

The organic approach to this course is descriptive in nature, presenting the religions as they appear in history and culture. It is not presented as older courses in “comparative religion.”

If this type of learning experience appeals to you, please register by Monday, March 31 by calling the church office or me directly at 257-0710.
